Burnout in Moms – 4 Things Heal Anxiety, Burnout, and Exhaustion

burnout in moms

For years, I lived in a constant state of pushing through.

Pushing through the anxiety.
Pushing through the exhaustion.
Pushing through the overwhelm… because “what other choice do moms have?”

Turns out, we have more choices than we think—we just don’t always know what they are.
I didn’t know either, until my health forced me to stop and listen.

What I’ve learned over the last few years—and especially in the last few months of slowing down and healing—is that burnout doesn’t happen because we’re weak. It happens because we’re doing too much for too long without the right support.

Here are the four key shifts I made that helped me heal from the inside out—and that I now help my clients walk through as well:

1. I Cut Out Inflammatory Foods and Focused on Healing Nutrition

This one took time, but it was foundational.

I discovered that certain foods were keeping me stuck in an anxious, foggy, exhausted state. For me, gluten and conventional dairy were major triggers. Once I removed them, my mood, mental clarity, and even sleep started to improve.

But it wasn’t just about what I removed. I also started fueling my body with what it actually needed—especially protein, healthy fats, and nutrient-rich carbohydrates that support hormone and brain health.

This shift alone helped me feel more steady, less reactive, and far more energized.

2. I Prioritized Sleep Like My Life Depended On It—Because It Does

For a long time, I wore exhaustion like a badge of honor. I’d stay up late folding laundry, catching up on client work, or mindlessly scrolling my phone—because those late hours felt like the only quiet moments I had.

But those late nights were stealing my healing.

So I made a change. I created a simple, calming bedtime routine and started protecting my sleep like it was sacred (because it is).
I dim the lights after dinner. I log off screens an hour before bed. I sip calming tea, take an Epsom salt bath, read a paper book, and breathe.

And guess what? I wake up feeling like a human again. (And my Oura regularly gives me a 90+ on my sleep score! Interested in Oura? Get 10% off with this link!)

3. I Learned to Manage My Mind

This was a game-changer.

I started paying attention to my thoughts—really paying attention. I realized how many of them were filled with fear, self-judgment, or unrealistic expectations.

So I began practicing something called thought work, where I gently challenge and reframe the thoughts that weren’t serving me.

Instead of “I’m failing at everything,” I started practicing, “I’m doing the best I can, and that’s enough.”

Our thoughts create our feelings, our feelings drive our actions, and our actions create our results. Once I saw this clearly, it shifted how I showed up for myself and my family.

4. I Reduced My Exposure to Hidden Stressors

We all know stress isn’t great—but we don’t always see where it’s coming from.

I started paying attention to the hidden things that were keeping my nervous system in fight-or-flight mode: the constant notifications, toxic household products, cluttered spaces, overscheduling, even the pressure to keep everyone happy.

So I started simplifying.
I swapped out products, reduced the noise, built in margin, and honored my nervous system’s need for rest and recovery.

And I felt the shift—physically, mentally, emotionally.

You Deserve to Heal Too

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, anxious, or just not like yourself—I want you to know that healing is possible. You don’t need to figure it all out on your own.

I help women uncover the hidden stressors behind their symptoms using functional lab testing, food and lifestyle changes, and gentle, supportive mindset work. This is about getting to the root of what’s keeping you stuck—and giving your body and mind the space to recover.

If you’re ready to feel calm, focused, and like yourself again, I’d love to support you.
